Dwelling Fire Insurance

The dwelling properties program provides property (and liability) insurance for residential property that does not meet the requirements of a homeowners program.

Types of dwellings generally written under this type of policy include:

• Tenant Occupied Dwellings & Mobile homes
• Owner Occupied Dwellings (that don’t qualify for homeowners policies)
• Dwellings Under Construction
• Seasonal Dwellings
• Vacant and Unoccupied Dwellings

Liability coverage can be added to a dwelling fire policy regardless of occupancy and covers injury to others or damage to the premises. The Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart will allow you to compare the coverages available for your home, non-farm structures, personal property and related additional expenses.

Principal Property Coverages:
Form 3 Coverage – Special form for dwelling fire policies covers the residence and its related structures. Coverage A & B are covered against risks of direct physical loss unless excluded. Personal Property (Coverage C) is covered for the Broad form perils.

Although there are different types and amounts of coverage you can choose for your dwelling, most dwelling fire policies generally include property coverage only. Liability coverage can be added for an extra charge.
• Damage to Home (Coverage A)
• Damage to Other Structures on property (Coverage B)
• Damage to insured’s Personal Property (Coverage C)
• Additional Living Costs (Coverage D) - Covers additional livings costs or fair rental value if an insured peril makes the dwelling unfit for use.
